About Us
The European Cooperative for Rural Development (EUCORD), formally registered as “Cooperatie EUCORD U.A.”, is an independent Brussels-based not-for-profit organization incorporated under Dutch cooperative law in May 2003.
Its Mission is to help people living in poverty in developing countries improve their well being. It aims to achieve this by engaging the private sector in delivering services to rural communities so as to ensure healthy families and sustainable livelihoods.
There are many NGOs in Europe. Few, if any, aim at fostering partnerships between the NGO (civil society), public (national and local governments) and private (multinational, national, local) sectors. EUCORD seeks to actively promote partnerships between civil society organizations, corporations that are investing in developing countries, and development agencies.
EUCORD is primarily active in three program areas: (a) agriculture-based economic growth through agribusiness partnership projects; (b) improving technical and business capacity of NGOs and small enterprises through training and partnerships; and (c) improving the livelihood of women and their families through technical, health, management, and leadership training.
Benefiting from the long-term project implementation and management experience of its senior staff, EUCORD has built over the past eight years a strong and reliable project implementation capacity. Presently, EUCORD has program activities in Burundi, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Ghana, Guinea, Kenya, Mali, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, Uganda.
