Nigeria, 2011
Client: Winrock International & USAID/Bridge to MARKETS II activity
Consultancy Assignment
As the MARKETS I activity came to an end in December 2010 and MARKETS II was expected to take off in late 2011, MARKETS I was set to continue in a means to connect the activities to the MARKETS II activity, thus receiving the name of Bridge to MARKETS II. MARKETS’ former Director of Technical Services, Niels Hanssens, was tasked to provide guidance during work planning and to assist with the development of the Performance Monitoring Plan (PMP). In addition, he helped to secure funding for hybrid sorghum development.
Bridge to MARKETS II – Lessons Learned
As the MARKETS activity ended and the Bridge to MARKETS II (BtM2) activity established, this consultancy aimed to capture best practices and lessons learned from both the MARKETS and BtM2. As such, the Deputy Director of EUCORD, Niels Hanssens was asked to conduct a critical assessment of the major activities undertaken in both projects. The tasks included among others:
- Interview MARKETS/BtM2 agro-processors to discover lessons learned from the MARKETS' partnerships
- How processors are applying those lessons with MARKETS/BtM2 and other programs
- Engage processors in an analysis of how the lessons learned can be applied to future programming efforts
- Produce a draft and final section on applying the lessons learned for future programming.
