Potato Market Study in Guinea
Title: Potato Market Study, Nov 2020 - Feb 2021 (4 months)
Donor: Belgian Cooperation / ENABEL
The aim of the study is to increase the market share of the Guinean table potato in the national markets of Guinea and the West African sub-region. Understanding the market will help producers to know the potential demand, the growth markets, consumers' needs, how to fight against imports, and to better orient state support and interventions.
What we do
- The current demand situation and the potential development of the Guinean potato market
- The conditions of transport and circulation of the potato, from the production areas to the main national target markets are described and documented
- The supply of fresh potatoes and competing products in the main national target markets is assessed and characterized (varieties and main attributes, presentation, volumes, price / services, distribution channel, etc.); the study will identify the current factors of competitiveness and comparative advantages of competing products compared to the Guinean potato supply.
- A medium-term strategy (3 to 5 years) for the development of the Guinea potato market shares in the target markets is proposed along with specific action plans and a roadmap for their implementation.
