Professionalize Producer Organization and Agricultural Clusters of Mamou (POPCAM), Guinea, 2025-2027

Goals

  1. Promote the adoption of sustainable agricultural practices among the Farmer Union of Agricultural Groups of Soumbalako (UGAS) to enhance food security and inclusive nutrition, while preserving the environment and ensuring long-term economic and social well-being.
  2. Improve the income of potato and horticulture producers within UGAS while maintaining sustainable production practices.

What We Do

The project focuses on strengthening UGAS through three key actions:

  1. Enhancing UGAS Services: Providing members with adequate services through a professionalized technical team.
  2. Improving Production Methods: Promoting agroecological practices and appropriate technologies for better crop production.
  3. Facilitating Market Access: Establishing at least two inclusive clusters in the potato and horticulture sectors to improve access to markets and inputs while supporting agroecological transition.

Expected Outcomes

  • UGAS delivers better services to its members through a skilled technical team.
  • Producers adopt improved agricultural techniques, including agroecological practices.
  • Two inclusive clusters within the potato and horticulture sector improve market access and input availability.

Target Groups & Beneficiaries

  • Main Target Group: The Farmer Union of Agricultural Groups of Soumbalako (UGAS), including its elected members, technical staff, and affiliated producers.
  • Direct Beneficiaries:
    • 4,000 UGAS members from 86 agricultural groups, involved in potato, rice, corn, and vegetable farming
    • 2,000 potato producers from 52 groups.
