What we did
The IDH Cassava Initiative, in collaboration with Grow Africa, aims to boost investment in the cassava value chain by integrating smallholders, with the goal of doubling the income of 300,000 farmers in Nigeria, Ghana, and Mozambique, and 500,000 farmers across Sub-Saharan Africa within ten years. The initiative seeks to demonstrate the profitability and sustainability of cassava processing with smallholder inclusion, encouraging banks and investors to support the sector. EUCORD was tasked with conducting an assessment and optimization of the study aiming to develop economically viable outgrower schemes for three industrial cassava processors in Nigeria by collecting and analyzing relevant information, creating a questionnaire to assess business and sourcing requirements, developing scenarios for potential outgrower schemes, and assisting in the Service Delivery Model (SDM) analysis, with final recommendations including a risk analysis.
