EUCORD does not use any GMOs or genetically modified organisms in its projects. EUCORD promotes both open-pollinated varieties and hybrid varieties. Hybrids are the result of a cross between two or more different but related plants, creating a seed with more favorable traits. Hybrid crop varieties are instrumental in increasing agricultural output. Contrarily, GMOs are not created using natural, low-tech methods, rather are created in a lab using high-tech and sophisticated techniques like gene-splicing.
