EUCORD’s mission is to increase farmers’ capacity to sustainably grow quality crops matched to commercial needs of the agribusiness sector and in doing so, increase food security, develop the private sector and improve the livelihoods of rural communities. In order to realize the best prospects for achieving this mission, food crops are chosen that have both a market demand and are important for household consumption. In addition to increasing food security and improving livelihoods, the agro-industry’s objective is to develop reliable and sustainable value chains. Through technical support in crop production and value chain development, producers are linked to the agribusiness and by doing so sustainable sources of income are created, as the demand for inputs is stable (if not growing). At the same time, production improvements are contributing to increased income and to improved access to surplus food crop production.
